More detail of what Cassettes Semester 1 includes:

  • Home rehearsal videos so you can enliven your lounge-room
  • Carefully planned, lovingly delivered, top-notch classes suitable for Beginner and Intermediate movers.
  • 2 x Joyous show classes:
The final weeks of each term within Semester 1 is our supportive, creatively costumed Show Class, shared with our other fabulous Cassette group.
  • The flashmob is an optional extra, connecting us with the internationally celebrated Biggest Wuthering Heights Day Ever.
  • Learning a range of super-fun 80s Dance routines: the choreography is designed so that experienced movers can extend or deepen each move.
  • Make-up class option: if you need to miss a class, attend our other weekly Cassette Class. It features the same main routines.
  • Creativity, connection and self-discovery. Cassettes are famous for being “so much more than a dance class” for a reason.
  • Embodying 80s classics plus 70s, 90s and a sprinkling of current (ish!) music.
  • Nourishing cool downs to nurture your inner peace

We also like to have social get-togethers outside of class…stay tuned.

Misleadingly happy pic of Martika. Toy Soldiers is very intense. Heartfelt-comedy-contemporary is an important part The Cassettes!

The Benefits of doing Cassettes:

  • Being part of a fabulous group. We have a wide range of professionals, creatives and parents dancing at The Cassettes. It’s an incredible, caring and generous community.
  • Experiencing original choreography (not commercial dance) is a beautiful way to expand your perspective of what is possible. Invite new flavours into your body.
  • Humour. Cassette classes are often funny.
  • Dance improves your health, both immediately and longterm: It helps prevent osteoporosis and dementia more than any other activity.
  • Psychological wellbeing. Dance brings together cognitive, emotional and physical wellbeing. The word “emotion” is derived from the Latin ’emovere’ meaning to move or move through. At Cassettes there’s a song and dance for every emotion. The proof is in the pudding: one always feels better after class. The proof is also in the science: dance is proven to help reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. The Bee Gees were right: You should be dancing, yeah!
  • More playfulness and fun in your life
  • You may not realise, but every time you have fun and feel more confident, society benefits.  80s dance is powerful stuff!
  • Time to just enjoy yourself and be carefree
  • Feel more energised, sparkly and inspired
  • Increased tone and fitness, bone density, balance and grace
  • Being guided and cared for by an experienced and rather jazzed-up teacher
