Oh What a Feeling!

80s Dance is not *yet* an internationally recognised sport, however dancers from The Cassettes have been invited to audition to perform at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of The Commonwealth Games, 2018.

Held at the Gold Coast’s tremendously large Cararra Stadium, this will call for our dancer’s highest stag leaps EVER.

Open to all Cassette Dancers

If the thought of performing in the Opening Ceremony gets you a little hot under the collar of your Cool Runnings inspired lycra catsuit, complete an application here.

Use code CASS2018 within the application, to audition specifically for a Dancer Position.  The code notifies Ceremonies staff that you are a sparkly, jazztastic, multi-skilled performer of the raddest variety.  Ceremonies staff have kindly offered to allocate Cassette dancers to the same audition times where possible, so you can enjoy the experience together!

Mix Tapes, Hot Stuff and Flashmob Troupe dancers past and present, are red cordially welcome to apply.

I can feel a road trip, coming on

If you’d rather apply to be a General Performer within the Ceremonies, go ahead using the same application form; simply don’t put in the Cassette code.  Cassette groovers from Byron, Bangalow or Burleigh with high-level dance and performance experience, are heartily encouraged to go for a Dancer Position!  It will be competitive.  You will need to play Eye of the Tiger, and Chariots of Fire on the drive there.

Applications close on September 3: don’t just stand there bust a move.

Best of luck everyone!

xx Riss

PS: Have you ever noticed that gold sequins are like tiny gold medals?
